10.2.21 Ideas for Regeneration proposal
I have various ideas for this proposal:
Materials:
I have researched various natural, biodegradable and dissolvable materials with which I could make a sculpture, as I'm beginning to question whether I want to make more 'stuff'. It might be interesting to make something ephemeral. More reflections on this are available here
10.2.21 Labels for an outdoor installation
21.1.21 Suppliers of natural fibres
20.1.21 Dissolvable thread
20.1.21 Natural fibres and decomposition
20.1.21 Why use natural fibres?
I did buy some cotton twine ( pale pink, natural and cream) but I'm concerned that it might not wear well in the elements. I need to trial it. I think I have decided today that actually, as this is potentially a selling opportunity, I will make something durable. I will save my conceptual work for my MA and beyond. I probably won't have access to the metal and sculpture workshops by the time it needs to be submitted so I think I'm going to knit with monofilament.
Ideas:
1. Phoenix
Abstract mythical creature, rising from the flames
2. Cocoon/ Chrysalis/Emerging/ Transformation
Hanging, knitted pods, cocoon-like, with something emerging from them?
3. New growth
Hanging knitted forms of abstract new growth
4. Regeneration Tree
Participatory installation, like the Wishing trees
