eJohn Wood makes work with Paul Harrison. They make films and 'stuff' eg sculptures.
They're trying to understand what it means to be human, making sense of the world, thinking about the world in different ways. Music is important to them (Think about sound in my work) They're trying to make something perfect.
They use
Jack Nicholson, in One flew over the cuckoo's nest, 'At least I fucking tried.'
What returning subjects? They use their bodies within the immediate architecture/space with objects. As adults we forget about physicality, curiosity.
Cartoons- concise, economic, they work on multiple levels. You see different things every time.
Carefully planned, with story boards and editing but loads of spontaneous messing around.
Have you ever really hurt yourself? He broke his neck in a stunt sitting on an office chair in the back of a moving van.
H&S? One of them was in a glass tank full of water and lots of water leaked onto electrical cables
I was lucky enough to see some of their work as they were part of Centre of Gravity. It's very clever, witty, sometimes slapstick, very visually interesting.
