Akram Khan
wili(ˈwɪlɪ)
NOUN
a female spirit or ghost from Slavonic mythology, believed to punish faithless men by dancing with them until they die of exhaustion

There's more about the Wili here
The dance of the Wili in Akram Khan's version of Giselle is electrifying. Somehow, in researching for this collaboration, I remembered it. The contrast between the grace and the mechanistic movements of the zombie-like dancers is uncomfortable and compelling. Watching it again, their use of sticks as devices in the choreography also suggests the current need for physical distancing - and the sticks look as if they might be nearly 2m!
