Becca and Claire workshop
Claire and Becca are artists who facilitate socially engaged art projects. They're based in Cardiff where they run a skate park and cafe. They sometimes use that space for art and music etc. I thought this was an excellent workshop, mostly because it was so interactive.
It was held in a quaint local village hall, just down the road from Locksbrook, which gave it a very different feel. We were offered refreshments when we arrived, and said that they feel that that is an important part of their practice- hospitality.
We were then given a task in 2 groups, involving potato printing. Here are some images:

My team realised too late that we'd cut the letters the wrong way for the potato prints so I suggested we carried on and read the message in the mirror. The team dynamic was tricky to begin with, but when we had a plan it worked out well.
For the second task we were each given a Fortune Cookie; inside there was a task. We had to work with someone else with the same one. Ours was to compose a Tweet publicising the university. We cut a hashtag and then it was easy... and fun! They then gave a short talk, which developed into a Q&A session. Useful and enjoyable session. |
