Browns 2
Form: I practiced sculpting different kinds of protrusions, adding double and single loop stitches. I also left long loose threads to make it hairy. I experimented with ways to create form as well
a) Hanging/tension- I decided to hang the sculpture so that it was resting on the ground, so it is hanging, but also floor based
b) Leaving a circular needle as part of the sculpture can create different forms.
Inside/outside: The inside and the outside of knitting are very distinctive. I like that with these pieces one is able to see both.
Form and formlessness: This piece can have many forms and the hairiness, I think, also suggests formlessness, unravelling.
Hairiness and the abject: I am researching ways to communicate something abject. Do these colours and the hairiness work? I'm not sure...
