Impossible shoes 2,
The finished sculpture:
I am delighted with this sculpture. It seems ridiculous, but I really like the fact that it's such a mysterious and beautiful object. It's hard to tell how viewers will read and respond to it by itself. I'm looking forward to finding out.
It certainly took many weeks to make and melting the wax out was a slow process. Sadly it's cracked a little, presumably due to the heat of the heat gun, but I still think it's an object of beauty, in a strange way. The waxed surface really finishes it off well. I had wondered about making more of these as stands, but actually, I really like the fact that two feet fitted into one of the moulds. It definitelynmakes them doubly impossible as shoes.
