Living sculptures, 'For Art's Sake',
CMS Pioneer Day 3.3.20
CMS Pioneer Day 3.3.20
I was invited to give a talk about my practice at a training day for Church Pioneers at CMS in Oxford. The day was entitled 'For Art's Sake'. I wanted my talk to reflect the participatory aspects of my practice so I took along some of my wearable soft sculptures, my Living sculptures, and invited the delegates to try them on part way through. I felt this was a risk and I was rather nervous about it, but I thought that if no one wanted to participate I could wear them. I was delighted though! As soon as I invited them to come and try on my sculptures there was a stampede. The conversation that ensued was very heart warming, and interesting, too. I found it brought a different focus on my practice to share my practice in that setting and to use my sculptures as participatory props. It's the first time I've done that and it was a huge success.

I also set up Safety net there for the day.
