Performance: practice-led research,
MF003
MF003
For the first 8 weeks of this module we were still in lockdown. It gradually eased and we were able to travel further afield. This series of performances is a development of part of my Selected work, Self : Body cocoon which I submitted for the last assessment in May, MF002. Since then I've knitted two more Body cocoons and am now working on the fourth. For more details see Knitting: practice-led research. Each piece has a different form and is knitted in different colours. None of them are wearable in a conventional way, as they're cocoon-like.
For my reflections on why I have documented me wearing these knitted shroud-like sculptures at home, in my garden and in various unexpected places, please see 30.6.20 Living sculptures: performance or participation? and also 4.7.20 Knitting in unexpected places?
Some of them are photographed or videoed in front of a makeshift photo studio in my kitchen. All of them are taken by my partner, Dave. Many thanks to him for his support and tolerance of my strange behaviours especially as he was locked down with just me!
