I was asked by artist Alyson Minckley and curator Judith Rodgers to facilitate a stitch workshop in April 2020 as part of their Talking taboo series. Alyson says on her website that there were due to be 'three workshops as talking spaces about menopause. Participants are invited to join sessions working with (or subverting) feminine arts - botanical sketching, embroidery or ceramics - whilst sharing stories in a safe space. Work & words produced may develop into a new exhibition in a collaboration between curator Judith Rodgers & myself.' Sadly these physical workshops had to be cancelled but we did trial a virtual workshop on 11th June 2020, via Zoom. The participants were Aly, Judith, myself and two of the artists who had been going to facilitate 2 of the other workshops, Clare Day (ceramics) and Jo Beal (botanical sketching).
